Welcome to our FAQ page. If you’re considering a Lunar Nest capsule home, you’re not alone — and we’re here to make your journey as clear and stress-free as possible. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we receive.

Do I need council approval for a prefab home?

In most cases, yes — but the process is often simpler than traditional construction. Depending on your location, you may need:

  • A Complying Development Certificate (CDC)
  • A Development Application (DA)
  • Or, for smaller non-habitable structures, no approval at all (Exempt Development)

We provide specification sheets, plans, and structural data to support your application. We also recommend checking with your local council before placing an order.

What is included in a standard Lunar Nest unit?

All our prefab homes are delivered fully built and ready to connect. Standard inclusions typically feature:

  • Structural steel frame and insulated wall system
  • Double-glazed windows and secure entry door
  • Internal walls and finished flooring
  • Ensuite bathroom with toilet, shower, and basin
  • Electrical wiring and lighting
  • Plumbing points for connection
  • Ventilation and insulation suited to Australian conditions

Optional upgrades and smart add-ons are available.

What kind of site preparation is required?

You’ll need:

  • A flat, level surface (we’ll guide you through base requirements)
  • Access for delivery truck and crane if needed
  • Power, water, and sewerage connection points if applicable

No slab is necessary — a pier or compact base system is usually sufficient.

How are the homes delivered and installed?

Our homes are delivered via truck and craned or rolled into position. Installation time is fast — typically one day or less once the site is ready.

We’ll work with your local team or help you find a licensed installer if needed.

Are your homes suitable for Airbnb or commercial use?

Yes — many of our clients use capsule homes for:

  • Airbnb rentals
  • Holiday parks and motels
  • Farm stays and eco retreats
  • Workforce housing and community projects

They are durable, comfortable, and designed for long-term performance in high-use environments.

Can I customise the interior or add upgrades?

Absolutely. We offer a range of smart add-ons and fit-out options, including:

  • Smart locks and motion lighting
  • Air conditioning or solar compatibility
  • Kitchenettes or workspace fit-outs
  • Furniture, decks, and storage options

Let us know your intended use, and we’ll guide you through what's possible.

Do you offer off-grid solutions?

Yes — our homes are ideal for off-grid living. You can choose optional systems including:

  • Solar power and battery integration
  • Composting or low-water-use toilets
  • Rainwater tanks and greywater systems
  • Off-grid hot water options

Let us know your site location and lifestyle goals so we can help design the best setup.

How long will delivery take?

Delivery time depends on your location, model, and current production queue. Most units are delivered within 6–10 weeks from order confirmation, with faster timelines available for some models.

What’s the expected lifespan of a Lunar Nest prefab?

Our capsule homes are built with commercial-grade materials, designed for long-term use in Australian weather conditions. With proper care, your unit can last 20–30+ years.

Do you offer finance or payment plans?

At this stage, we don’t offer in-house finance. However, we can provide documentation and guidance if you're working with a finance provider, mortgage broker, or grant application.
